The Machining <\/strong>program prepares you to become a skilled machinist capable of manufacturing, modifying, and inspecting custom metal, polymer, and composite parts. You will master blueprint interpretation, applied trade mathematics, and quality control measurement procedures. Hands-on training covers operating both conventional machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders) and computer numerical control (CNC) equipment\u2014including programming CNC lathes and machining centers. Prerequisites for this DVS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for admission to this program, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:<\/strong>
Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma (SSD) or its recognized equivalent, for example, an Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary Studies (AESS), or a postsecondary diploma such as the Diploma of College Studies or a Bachelor\u2019s degree.
OR<\/strong>
Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned the Secondary IV credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Ministry, or have been granted recognition for equivalent learning.
OR<\/strong>
Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have successfully completed the General Development Test (GDT) or recognition of equivalent learning, and have these specific functional prerequisites:
-Language of instruction \u2013 Youth: 632-106 or (632-212)
-Language of instruction \u2013 Adults: ENG-1101-4 or (ENG-1061-3)
-Mathematics \u2013 Youth: 563-226 or (563-206)
-Mathematics \u2013 Adults: MTH-2102-3 or (MTH-2007-2)
OR<\/strong>
Persons who have obtained Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in programs established by the Ministry are required to pursue general education courses, concurrently with their vocational training, in order to obtain the Secondary IV credits they lack in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in programs established by the Ministry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
