What is the ISP?

The Eastern Townships School Board promotes opportunities for multicultural collaboration and understanding, by inviting students from around the world to participate in our short and long-term exchanges within our local high schools and vocational centres.
Our Students
The ISP offers students aged 13–17 a transformative 3, 5, or 10-month cultural exchange in Quebec, Canada. Attending high schools in Sherbrooke, Cowansville, or Richmond, participants are immersed in a safe, tech-forward, and bilingual (English/French) academic environment.
Our Homestay Families
Our diverse host families—including couples, single parents, and grandparents from English, French, or bilingual households—provide a safe environment for our students. We carefully match students and homestay families based on shared hobbies so they truly feel like part of the family, leading to lifelong connections and amazing memories. Plus, you’re never doing it alone: hosts receive a monthly financial stipend, can partake in fun activities, and get ongoing support from a dedicated coordinator.

Over the past five years, the ETSB International Student Program has proudly welcomed nearly 300 students from every corner of the globe—including China, South Korea, India, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.
We believe that a true education extends far beyond the textbook; it is about building a powerful cultural bridge. By sharing daily life and experiences in our classrooms and homestays, our global students and local communities weave a vibrant tapestry of shared stories, laughter, and cross-cultural understanding. This isn’t just an academic exchange—it’s a life-changing journey that turns international classmates into family, creating unforgettable, lifelong bonds that cross oceans.
Homestay Coordinator
The role of your coordinator is to provide support and guidance to both you and your host family, ensuring a successful experience. The coordinator is responsible for thoroughly screening families and will arrange regular visits to confirm you are adapting well to your new environment.
