CLC – Community Learning Centre

Community Learning Centres (CLC)

Community Learning Centres (CLCs) are community schools that serve as hubs for English-language communities—improving access to services, strengthening connections, and supporting community vitality. They are intentionally structured to coordinate partnerships between schools, families, and community organizations and to mobilize community resources to strengthen learning, well-being, and belonging.

Richmond Regional High Community Learning Centre School

Richmond Regional High belongs to LEARN’s Network of 92 Community Schools in Quebec, known as Community Learning Centres (CLC Schools). CLC Schools develop partnerships to align school and community resources for students and English-speaking community members, supporting the holistic development of citizens and communities.

Richmond Regional High School became a CLC School in 2011. In 2016, RRHS’ feeder elementary schools, Asbestos-Danville-Shipton Elementary School, Drummondville Elementary School and St. Francis Elementary joined the CLC Network to work with RRHS towards the achievement of common goals. Together, these 4 schools and their respective communities are known as the Richmond, Danville and Drummondville area CLC.

For more information about the RRHS’s CLC, please contact our coordinator.

What does this mean for RRHS and its students?

As a CLC School, RRHS has a dual mandate: student perseverance and community vitality. A dedicated coordinator works closely with school principal and staff towards developing mutually beneficial partnerships with community-based organizations, municipalities, local businesses, families, and community members. These partnerships will see direct support to community and school through enhanced access to recreational, educational, social, and cultural opportunities for youth, families, and the community at large.

The big picture

“Community schools are a strategy, not a program. They are both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, services, supports and opportunities leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Schools become centers of the community, open to everyone. They transform schools and communities.”

Our Community Partners

At the Richmond & Region Community Learning Center (CLC), we greatly value our many partners, who actively contribute to student success and community vitality. Without them, many actions carried through the years, would simply not have been possible.

A partnership with the Ville de Richmond provides increased accessibility of our school to the community, and we encourage community partnerships that offers programs and activities to youth, seniors and community members.

On behalf of the Richmond & Region Community Learning Center, the Richmond community and Richmond Regional High School, we would like to say, Thank you!
