School Perseverence

The Eastern Townships School Board is dedicated to providing life-long learning to children, teenagers and adults. A number of initiatives targeting academic success and perseverance in school have been implemented in various schools and centres.

Individual schools and centres have initiated some actions while other initiatives have been undertaken throughout the school board. For example:
– Ours various educational pathways allowing a higher number of students to obtain a diploma or a qualification;
– Our collaborations between the youth and the adult sector in order to assure a continuity of services;
– Our proven pedagogical practices supporting our students’ success;
– Our « back to school for a brighter future » summer campaign;
– Our follow-up procedure for our dropouts, etc.

Also, we are proud to highlight our involvement with Partners for Educational Success Estrie (Projet PRÉE), Brome-Missisquoi Partners and with the Comité régionale de concertation en réussite éducative de la Montérégie-Est.  The mobilization and concerted actions that have been implemented in regards to the youth educational success are bearing fruits.

Emergency Daycare Services

The government recently announced that exceptional measures must be taken in order to reduce the risks of spreading COVID-19. To that effect, it was decided that the number of class days on which students are physically present at school be reduced, starting on December 17. One of the planned measures involves the emergency daycare services to be provided.
The original school calendar is being maintained. For elementary school and high school students, online learning will be offered from December 17 to December 22. For high school students, online learning will also continue on January 7 and 8.

Availability of emergency daycare services

Emergency daycare services are provided under exceptional circumstances to parents who have no other option. Moreover, they are reserved for the children of parents who hold jobs that are on the list of essential services entitling them to emergency daycare services.

In accordance with government recommendations for limiting the risks of spreading the virus, these services should only be used by parents who are entitled to them and for whom it is the only option allowing them to report to work. Therefore, families with one parent at home—even if that parent is teleworking—should avoid using these services.

Consult the list of ETSB schools offering Emergency Daycare Services.

Registration

If you will need to use these services, an online registration form will be available from December 10 to 16, inclusive. To access this registration form, please click here.

Parents are strongly encouraged to to register their children in advance to be sure they have a spot by filling out the online form, but it will be possible to register in-person in the morning. Parents must register each of their children for each day that services are required.

Upon your arrival at the emergency school daycare, you will be asked to fill out an information sheet on which you must :
– Indicate the health insurance number of each child registered.
– Provide proof that you are entitled to the service based on your occupation (e.g. pay stub).
– Specify each child’s special needs, if applicable (including allergies).

Parents will not have to pay for the emergency daycare services.

No meal services will be offered, and no snacks will be provided. Please send a cold lunch or a hot meal in an insulated container. No other types of lunches are accepted.
