Who we are
Our School Board

A community of learners. A network of schools. A place to belong.
The Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) serves a diverse and vibrant region in southeastern Quebec. From small, close-knit schools serving rural communities to larger schools and centres serving hundreds of students, our schools reflect the unique communities and people who call the Eastern Townships home.
Our territory spans approximately 17,600 km², encompassing eight municipal regional counties (MRCs) and 175 municipalities, 97 of which are fully contained within our territory. We serve a population of more than 650,000 people.
Today, ETSB includes:
🔹20 elementary schools
🔹3 secondary schools
🔹2 vocational training centres
🔹1 adult education centre across 2 campuses
Our schools range in size from communities of approximately 20 students to secondary schools of nearly 900 learners. While English is the first language for many of our students, many also speak French at home. This bilingual context is an important part of who we are and the communities we serve.
People are at the heart of ETSB
Our success is built on the commitment and expertise of our people. Teachers, professionals, support staff, administrators, management personnel, and bus drivers work together every day to create environments where students can learn, grow, and thrive.
We are proud of the strong relationships that connect our schools, families, communities, and partners. Together, we share a commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for every learner.

Why ETSB?
🌱 We know our communities.
Our schools are deeply connected to the communities they serve, from small rural communities to larger urban centres. This creates a strong sense of connection and belonging and allows our schools to respond to the unique needs and strengths of their communities.
🤝 We believe in collaboration.
Student success is a shared responsibility. Our schools, staff, families and community partners work together to create the conditions in which students can succeed.
🌎 We embrace our bilingual context.
English and French are part of the everyday experience of many of our students and communities. Our bilingual environment creates rich opportunities for connection, communication, and learning.
💡 We believe every learner can grow.
We are committed to high expectations, meaningful learning, and creating the conditions for every student to develop their strengths, reach their potential and find their pathway to success.
❤️ We are people-centred.
Relationships matter. We want students and staff to feel that they belong, that their voices matter, and that they have a meaningful place in our community.
Our values
Our values guide how we work, how we make decisions, and how we build relationships with students, colleagues, families, and communities.

Our Story
The Eastern Townships School Board, as it exists today, was established in 1998 following the amalgamation of the Bedford School Board, located in Cowansville, and the existing Eastern Townships School Board, located in Lennoxville.
While our organization has evolved over time, our commitment has remained constant: to serve our students, our communities, and one another by creating opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
Today, ETSB continues to build on this history while looking toward the future – working collaboratively to meet the changing needs of our students, schools and communities.
