Services offered

Accounts Payable

Accounts payable represent the money owed to external vendors and contractors for goods and services already received. This includes everything from classroom supplies and textbooks to utility bills and facility maintenance costs. Essentially, it covers the operational bills the board must pay to keep schools running smoothly.

School Taxation

School taxation is a local property tax used to help fund public education, school infrastructure, and student services. Property owners pay this tax to their regional school board based on the assessed value of their real estate.

FAQ on School Taxation

The annual school tax bill is mailed to all registered property owners. Please note that if your property is valued at less than $25,000, you will not receive a bill and will not have to pay anything.

Do you own multiple properties?
You must make a payment for each of the invoices you receive. This is because each reference number is linked to a property, not to the owner.

Have you sold your property or purchased a new one?
Please note: Your invoice reference number will be different from the one stored on your financial institution’s website. You must enter your new reference number.

To pay your bill, you have three options:
1️⃣Through your financial institution:
At the service counter, ATM, by phone, or online via bill payment.
2️⃣By mail: By mailing the pre-addressed envelope included with your tax bill.
3️⃣At ETSB’s board office: In person, by check or cash only.

Payment by your mortgage lender:
The school board does not send any copies of the tax bill to the mortgage lender. You must send your school tax bill to the lender so that they can make the payment.
It is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure that the tax bill is paid by the due date.

Payment Due Dates

If your bill is less than $300:
The total amount of the bill is due in a single payment on August 13, 2026.

If your bill is $300 or more:
The invoice amount may be paid in two installments on August 13, 2026, and November 12, 2026. However, if you wish to pay in a single installment, the total amount of the invoice must be paid before the first scheduled due date. No additional invoice will be sent for this second installment.

NOTE:
Interest at a rate of 7% (as set forth in Section 28 of the Tax Administration Act) will be added if payments are not made by the scheduled due dates.

Tax Relief

Bill No. 3, which aims to establish a flat tax rate, seeks, among other things:
🔹A flat tax rate set by the ministry;
🔹The retention of the annual exemption of $25,000 on the assessable value per housing unit.

The tax rate is published annually in the Official Gazette of Québec no later than June 15 preceding the tax year in question.

The rate in effect for the 2026–2027 school year is $0.07899 per $100 of assessed value.

The interest rate applicable to tax liabilities is 7% for the 2026–2027 school year.

To change your choice for the next school year, you must submit your request by April 1st.

🔹Download and complete one of the following forms based on your language preference:
➡️Déclaration pour fins d’imposition scolaire (French version)
➡️Declaration for School Tax Purposes (English version)

🔹Send the completed form to taxation@etsb.qc.ca

This change does not affect your liability for any outstanding school taxes in any way.

Notaries – Online Consultation

Notaries can check the school tax (French-language or English-language) to find out the outstanding balances for a property on the 🌐TFP website.

This website offers a module for viewing property tax and fee data for the territory served by the Eastern Townships School Board. It provides real-time access to all available information, such as the balance, arrears, invoice, and other data related to a property’s school tax.

To create your account, please contact us at 819 868-3100, ext. 55072.

There is no activation fee. Thereafter, a fee of $25 plus tax will be charged for each record accessed, and you will not be charged if you are providing the information to the new owner. These prices are subject to change without notice.

However, you can submit a request by email without accessing the module on the website. A fee of $35, including taxes, will be billed to you after your request. Be sure to provide us with your mailing address.

Otherwise, account statements are sent approximately every three months.
